Built a decade ago, this award-winning house on Seattle’s Mercer Island was designed by the Miller-Hull Partnership and is currently for sale at US$1,150,000.

Built in 1998, this low maintenance and compact open house, defies the boundaries of indoor and outdoor. Nestled in a Mercer Island ravine, this three-story structure balances the rigidity of steel and concrete with the softness of the green and lush hillside vegetation.

There is a 9ft x 10ft vertical lift floor of wood and glass door that leads from the main floor living area to a bridge-like deck, effectively transforming the area into an outdoor room.
The master suite at the top of the house is a flexible space, partly because of the interlocking panels and a bridge that adds spaciousness as well as privacy and intimacy.

The lower level is of concrete blocks with glass block windows that allows light to add some coziness to the two bedrooms as well as the play area.
The floor-to-ceiling bookcases with its built-in desk turns the staircase landing into a home den. The house’s interior is absolutely stunning!
